Post Surgical (Orthopaedic) Physiotherapy:

Physiotherapy is required to assist recovery following Orthopaedic surgery. Our physiotherapists provide exercises to strengthen muscles and regain movement following surgery, which is essential to optimize your results.

Acutely, we can assist clients with walking and transferring post-surgery; we then prescribe exercises so that full strength, flexibility and function are regained. The quickest way to return to pre-surgery fitness and function is to consult a physiotherapist experienced in post-operative rehabilitation.

Hydrotherapy programs are an essential part of our orthopedic rehabilitation regime. This is used in conjunction with your surgeon’s post-operative protocol. We will liaise with your surgeon to accommodate any specific requirements that you may have based on your individual surgery. If you would like to speak to one of our experienced physiotherapists regarding your surgery, please do not hesitate to contact us on (08) 9367 4966.

Neurological Physiotherapy:

Neurological physiotherapy includes the assessment and treatment of patients who have a neurological disorder. This includes people who suffer from stroke, MS and Parkinson’s disease (and other conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord and nerves).

Initial assessment involves a full physical assessment, including your past medical history, activities of daily living and previous mobility. Your physiotherapist will set you specific goals and work with you and your family or carer (if required) to achieve these goals through exercise rehabilitation, hydrotherapy and a closely supervised home exercise program. Treatment programs vary depending on your symptoms and condition and can be prescribed at any stage of your condition.

Treatment can be carried out in our clinic and gym or in the comfort of your own home to accommodate the needs of you and your family or care arrangements. If it is indicated, you may wish to consider hydrotherapy to assist you with your rehabilitation and prevent your condition from advancing.

Acupuncture Therapy:

Acupuncture is a safe, simple and effective technique that is effectively used in the treatment of painful musculoskeletal conditions. Clinical trials show that acupuncture has an effect on pain systems in the body, relieving pain by stimulating physiological reactions to an invasive stimulus. Pain relief is initiated by stimulus of the small diameter nerves in muscles, which sends impulses to the spinal cord; together with the brain it releases chemical agents that relieve pain (opiate type pain relief).

Short term pain relief using acupuncture can be helpful when mobilising painful joints and when beginning an exercise program, and can be incorporated into a full rehabilitation program. Studies have shown that acupuncture used in conjunction to physiotherapy can reduce the number of treatment sessions required and achieve instant results.

Acupuncture, when included in a physiotherapy consultation, is covered under the ancillary cover of your health fund.
