At Como Physiotherapy Clinic, we are dedicated to providing you with the best quality of care at an affordable price. We pride ourselves in our personalized care by offering you a wide range of physiotherapy services that allow us to treat your individual needs.
Como Physiotherapy Clinic is conveniently located just 10 minutes south of Perth’s CBD. It has been a landmark in the South Perth region for over 25 years, originally owned and operated by Peter Rydings.
We continue to be a family operated and owned business, now run by Charlene Duncan and her husband Ben Gaff. Along with our well-trained staff and multidisciplinary team, we guarantee expert care through a comprehensive treatment and rehabilitation program.
We offer same day appointments between 7.30am – 7.00pm Monday to Thursday, 7.30am – 6.00pm Fridays and from 8.00am – 2pm on Saturdays. Home visits are available by appointment. Please feel free to contact us on (08) 9367 4966 with any queries.
OUR STAFF
Our highly qualified team has had extensive experience in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, women’s health, post surgical and sports rehabilitation, injuries sustained in motor vehicle and workplace accidents, and in aged care (DVA). Each of our physiotherapists has graduated from Curtin University School of Physiotherapy or Notre Dame University. We are dedicated to continuously updating the knowledge and experience of our physiotherapists with ongoing education and registered courses. You can feel confident that you are getting the right treatment every time.
Each of our physiotherapists work with sporting teams at both elite and club levels. We are heavily involved with community sporting clubs and local schools, in addition to running education seminars and workshops at community groups, retirement villages and gymnasiums.
CHARLENE DUNCAN
(Principal, Senior Physiotherapist):
Charlene is a Senior Physiotherapist with a special interest in sports injuries and rehabilitation and a graduate from Curtin University’s School of Physiotherapy. Prior to this she completed a double major from the University of Western Australia in Human Anatomy and Exercise Physiology and has worked for several years as an Exercise Physiologist and specialist personal trainer, giving her a definite edge in Pilates and Gym-based rehabilitation and specialized exercise prescription.
Currently Charlene holds a teaching position at Curtin University School of Physiotherapy. She is employed as a tutor and casual lecturer and thoroughly enjoys public speaking, presenting regularly at schools, sports clubs, community centers, gymnasiums, and running first aid and taping courses.
Charlene has considerable experience working and travelling with elite sporting teams. Her interests are AFL, rugby union, hockey, softball and baseball, and dancers and performing arts, particularly in the management of overuse injuries in musicians.
Charlene has started her Masters of Manipulative Physiotherapy at Curtin University and following her completion of several units is fascinating by the early management of acute whiplash injuries and the recent changes in physiotherapy intervention. She thoroughly enjoys keeping up to date with current literature and courses and is keen to continue studying.

BRETT STANFORD
(Physiotherapist):
Brett studied Physiotherapy at Curtin University and joined the Como Physiotherapy team in 2009. He has a keen interest in sporting injuries and sports-specific rehabilitation and continues to be involved with several local sporting teams as physiotherapist and as team member.
Brett is a member of How Ridiculous – a small group of forward thinking young men who document trick shot videos on YouTube to support Compassion Australia and fundraise for children living in extreme poverty in third world countries. Brett is also the youth pastor at his local church and in his spare time loves to play golf, fish and watch West Coast and Arsenal games.

REBECCA MCMAHON
(Physiotherapist):
Rebecca’s inspiration to become a Physiotherapist came from her career as a professional circus aerialist, performing acts such as contortion, silks, aerial ring and trapeze both nationally and internationally. Whilst growing her own local circus school and performance company, Rebecca completed her Bachelor Degree in Physiotherapy at Curtin University graduating in 2010 with First Class Honors.
Rebecca’s areas of clinical interest include – physiotherapy for dancers, gymnasts, rehabilitation for gerontology and neurology patients and exercise rehabilitation. Rebecca also runs small group and individual Clinical Pilates classes for Como Physiotherapy and can tailor her exercise programs to suit patients with chronic spinal pain, scoliosis, hypermobility syndromes and neurological conditions as well as dancers and elite sports people.

CASEY MELVILLE
(Physiotherapist):
Casey completed her Bachelor Degree in Physiotherapy at Curtin University and joined the Como Physiotherapy team in 2013. Casey enjoys treating a range of musculoskeletal and sporting injuries, as well as post-operative rehabilitation, antenatal and postnatal physiotherapy (including treatment for mastitis and postnatal pilates) and cardiopulmonary/chest physiotherapy.
Casey currently runs our Pilates and balance classes and is available for individual and group hydrotherapy appointments.

ROBYN BAILEY
(Manager, Senior Physiotherapist):
Robyn Bailey has commenced practicing at Como Physiotherapy as a Senior Physiotherapist and Practice Manager. Her areas of special interest are Sports Medicine, and particularly adolescent sports injuries, dance injuries and musculoskeletal injuries of the spine and peripheral joints.
Robyn has a wide range of experience in all aspects of outpatient physiotherapy, but thoroughly enjoys treating challenging shoulders and workplace ergonomics.
Robyn has worked for over 25 years in Private Practice Physiotherapy, Management and Mentoring and has worked in both rural and city practices in the past. She has tutored undergraduate students at Curtin University, School of Physiotherapy in manipulative physiotherapy skills and prides herself on her voluntary physiotherapy positions at the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000, the Melbourne Commonwealth Games in 2006 and the ISAF World Sailing Championships in 2011.

FIONA KNOWLES
(Senior Physiotherapist):
Fiona is a senior physiotherapist with close to twenty years experience treating sports and musculoskeletal injuries. She graduated from La Trobe University (Melbourne) in 1995 with a passion for preventing, managing and treating cycling injuries. Her other areas of interest are post and pre-operative rehabilitation and hydrotherapy.
Fiona has a keen interest in keeping fit and active. She has been a competitive cyclist for 10 years and has represented NSW at State competitions.
Over the years Fiona has worked and travelled with sporting teams and has considerable knowledge in treating both acute and chronic sporting ailments.
